Newly Michelin-Starred Heartbreak Closed for Good

One of the least expected selections of last week's
Michelin madness was
Heartbreak, the East Village German restaurant that received one star. That same day,
news dropped that Heartbreak had shuttered "for renovations," and now Diner's Journal
reports that no renovations are happening — the restaurant has closed for good. While Heartbreak never did seem to have
a full house in its sprawling corner digs, Ingrid Roettele's cooking had a cultish following from her time at now-defunct Roettele AG. Maybe a Michelin star would've proved the boost this spot needed — the timing, needless to say, is heartbreaking. [
